Yet another day...

Okay our place is a MESS!!
We have had a deck leak that spread to the living room, since October!
Finally they came in to fix it today.
Most of the time that would be GREAT news, something finally getting done. But we are also finally getting our condo ready to be "On the Market"!
Yep we are selling our first little house uh condo!
So today our realtor also scheduled the photographer to come by and take pictures. Uh, oh!
Well the contractors showed up at 8 am on the dot. Our realtor said they would be here at the same time. (At least that is what I remembered!) Well the contractor luckily had another job he could do first. So off they went and I waited for the photographer.
He came and arranging took place, things were hidden from site, and kiddos were stuffed away in their room, at least until he needed to take pictures of it. We had a friend come by and take the girls with them for the afternoon so the ceiling could get completed! THANKS GUYS!!
Then it was time to destroy the living room once again, and pull everything from the wall and ceiling that needed work. Then I waited, again.
When the contractor showed up I watched as they put down the floor covering and taped up the inside barrier for the dust. then I waited around to see them take out the yucky part of the ceiling!
Then we had a "Big-ole-hole" in the ceiling.
In my best hick type accent,
"Ah yep, there's a leak alright!"
"That sure looks like water coming outa there!"
And now all is well with the ceiling. It is being mended as I type. I must say that these guys sure work their butts off. They are even nice and joking around as they do it.
To top things off I replaced a light bulb in a fixture that we purchased from Ikea and then later the fixture stopped working. Ah Humm! So I check it out and
"Yep the switch don't seem ta operate them lamps anymore!"
"Let me check the breaker a-gin."
"Nope not that one, dern!"
"Ouch!, ahh h$&l, that hurt!"

I leave my Hick self at home, since he really shouldn't drive in the bay-area traffic anyway, and off to Ikea I go to get a new fixture! Thankfully it was only $30. So That will go up later.

So how was your day?

On Antoher note...My girls are silly, smart and beautiful!!
Here are some pictures to prove it!!

So Suzanne is now 5 years old!

WOW! Today is her birthday.
Birthdays are a really big deal for for kids. One of the first things that Suzanne asked for her birthday was to see if we could send Sophie, her stuffed tiger, to the "Spa". Some of you may remember the story of losing Sophie when we were in Hawaii and she magically reappeared in the mail about two weeks later. Well we gave the excuse that "Sophie went to the spa" it was really "Spa eBay! We have told this story over and over so Suzanne knows it now by heart. When she asked if we could send Sophie to the spa we thought about it and decided that we could do this no problem. We just had to find the time to "send" the old Sophie and to get a new and improved one to return. This happened yesterday. I picked up the girls from Daycare and we went straight to the mailbox. I had Suzanne open it, and there in a white paper mail envelope was a newly fresh and clean Sophie. Suzanne was so happy. It was really cute when she finally opened the package and her smile was so big, but Liz had the camera! :( Oh Well! She opened it and looked her over and said that she was really happy to have Sophie back. Suzanne was upset the day before we sent Sophie out. She wasn't sure if she really wanted to do it. As the day got closer Suzanne was getting better and better about sending her away. Liz and I had come up with a few plans to get Sophie to the spa. Some totally different and some even wildly complicated. I wanted to make sure that Suzanne was able to see Sophie get packed up and sent through the mail so she could get an understanding of how the mail worked. Well that FAILED, it only failed because she didn't want to see Sophie get sent away. So then I told her that I could send Sophie from work. Suzanne thought that was a grand idea. So we did just that. I dropped Suzanne and Sydney off at daycare and Suz said her goodbyes to Sophie and took Tabby, who is number 2 in her favorite stuffed animals department, and went inside with only a little bit of tears. Then only one night later Sophie came home all fresh and clean. Nice Job Mom and Dad!! WooHooo! Funny little aside to this long story is that last night Suzanne told Liz that she liked Sophie better the "other way"! Hehehehe..well you can't blame us for trying! :)

We will be going on our yearly camping trip again this year and Suzanne can celebrate with a small cake and some really nice friends at the campground.

This year we have about 275 campers and 55 of those campers are 5 or under. WOW! This is an annual event held by our local chapter of Families With Children From China (FCC). They do a fabulous job of getting everything together and everyone has a great time. It will be a lot of fun.

So Happy Birthday Big Girl I hope it will be a great one for you!

Love You and big hugs!

Happy B-Bay Little One

May 26, 2006
Today is our little ones birthday! She is turning three today.
We will be celebrating her day tomorrow with a picnic at a local park and a dinner BBQ.
Fun stuff indeed.
So more thoughts of this day are going through my mind. These are MY thoughts, I can only imagine what this day was like three years ago.

This day three years ago a scared mother is giving birth to her child. Not knowing what was going to happen next. Soon she had to make a choice, keep this baby and live in secret, or place this baby in a soon to be crowded market place street in hopes that she will be found by a caring person. Well, she chose the latter. Early in the morning she placed her newborn daughter wrapped in a blanket on the steps of a storefront. Before the store opened for the day a police officer happened by and found the baby. She was taken to the local police station and then on to a local orphanage. One can only hope that this scared young woman would be thinking about this day three years ago wondering what has become of this little bundle wrapped in a blanket.

Even though she will never read this letter I would like to say to her, Thank you for choosing this path for your daughter. Thank you for giving birth to her three years ago, and thank you for be a caring person. Thank you for being a birthmother. As we celebrate the birth of our daughter we also celebrate you, her birthmother on this special day.
Please know that we think about you and hope that you know that your daughter has become a great little toddler, happy, healthy, very smart and cunning little firecracker. As our daughter gets older we hope to share the thoughts that we have about her birthmother. We can only speculate on how she was feeling that day, and how she is feeling on this day every year. She will be a very important person in our family, even though we will never know who she may be.

Happy Birthday Shao bao bea (Little Treasure)!

Anniversary

Wow, 13 years today My wife and I were dancing in the backyard of my new in-laws house.
Having a lot of fun and thinking of the future. We had lost our jobs only two months before and were finally getting things in order. We had moved to Davis to find work and to be with some friends. We had some great times and a lot of great memories.
But that was 13 years ago! Boy how time flies. Now we are in San Jose doing great, we have two wonderful children and life is just grand!
Three cats and running out of room in our "small" condo.
Give us some time and that will change as well.

Happy 13th anniversay, hopefully there will be a lot more ahead!
